Township Board Meeting

A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and the Board transacted the following business:

1. Public Comment –None
2. Approved the Agenda as presented
3. Approved the minutes from the July 9^th regular Board meeting and the July 30^th Special Board meeting as presented 2024
4. Approved scheduling a Public Hearing for September 10, 2024 to establish the property tax millage rate to be levied to support the Township’s 2025 General and Fire Fund accounts
5. Approved the Consent Calendar as presented
6. Received the County Commissioner’s Report from Brad Jewett and Lauren Flynn
7. Received the Sheriff’s Report from Lt. Roy Raska
8. Received the GT Metro Fire Report from Chief Paul Mackin
9. Received the Planning Department Report from John Sych
10. Received the Parks & Rec. Report in writing
11. Received the Treasurer’s Report in writing
12. Received the Clerk’s Report in writing
13. Received the Supervisor’s Report from Chuck Korn
14. Warren Call and Camille Hoisington from Traverse Connect gave a presentation. Board approved Professional Services Contract with Traverse Connect effective August 13, 2024 through August 12, 2027
15. The Board adopted the Downpayment Sewer Capital Waiver Policy and waived the downpayment requirement for the Westwind project
16. Approved Resolution 2024-22-T for GT Metro Emergency Services Authority 2025 budget
17. Approved authorizing the Township Engineer to prepare an RFP for the Copper Ridge Trailhead project
18. The Board deferred consideration of bids for carpet and floor cleaning for the Garfield Township office until next meeting
