Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Administration
The Charter Township of Garfield is now issuing Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control permits in accordance with Ordinance 78 approved by the Township Board on January 14, 2025. This ordinance allows Garfield Township to administer its own Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control program by requiring proper provisions for water disposal and the protection of soil services during and after earth change activities. All soil and erosion permits that were previously issued by Grand Traverse County will be transferred to and managed by Garfield Township.
All new Garfield Township related Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Applications may be completed at the Garfield Township Zoning Office located at 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan between the hours of 7:30 am and 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday. Public Hearing - April 9, 2025
The Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing during its regular meeting on April 9, 2025, at 7:00 pm at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City. The item to be considered is an application submitted by Keel Capital, LLC requesting a Special Use Permit for a multi-family housing development at 2105 N. US-31 South, the Gauthier property, directly north of McRae Hill Road. See Public Hearing Notice for details.
