Synopsis of Minutes of August 27, 2024

Township Board Meeting

A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and the Board transacted the following business:

1. Public Comment –None
2. The board agreed with Trustee Barsheff’s stated conflict of interest with agenda item 7b. “Discussion of the applicants for Township Manager”
3. Approved the Agenda as presented
4. Approved setting a Public Hearing for September 24, 2024 for the R-3 Zoning District Zoning Ordinance Amendment
5. Removed items 3a. Minutes and 3i. Budget Amendment from the Consent Calendar and approved the Consent Calendar as amended
6. Corrected the August 8^th minutes and approved.  The August 13^th minutes were approved as presented.
7. Board question the purpose for the Budget Amendment and approved Resolution 2024-24-T increasing the Community Promotion Fund by $19,000
8. Received the MMR Report in writing
9. Received the Supervisor’s Report from Chuck Korn
10. Approved bid for tile cleaning from Contemporary Cleaning
11. Approved bid for annual carpet and vinyl plank cleaning from Modernistic
12. Board went into closed session to discuss the Township Manager applicants
13. Board returned from closed session and set public meeting on September 5^th at 1:00pm to interview four candidates
14. Other Business:  In reference to a recent article about homeless facilities, the Planning Dept. has not been contacted about building a homeless facility in the Township.

The Meeting was adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
