Township Board Meeting
A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and the Board transacted the following business:
- Public Comment – No one wished to speak.
- Approved Minutes from April 11, 2017, Township Board meeting.
- Approved the agenda as presented.
- Removed item b. Bills and item c. County Road Improvement Agreement from the consent calendar. Approved the Consent Calendar as modified.
- Discussed items b. and items c. approved both items.
- Acknowledged emails regarding Barlow Street.
- Received GT Metro Fire Department report from Assistant Chief Steve Apostal.
- Received the County Commissioner’s report from Tom Mair.
- Received the Personnel Committee’s report from Denise Schmuckal. Authorized the hiring of Deputy Planner Eric Perdonik. Discussed the interview process for the appraiser’s positions.
- Received the Treasurer’s report from Jeane Blood Law.
- Received the Clerk’s report from Lanie McManus regarding the preparations for the May 2 election.
- Received Supervisor’s report from Chuck Korn regarding the MTA conference sessions he attended and ongoing discussions about the wastewater treatment plant and GT Metro.
- Awarded the bid to DN Tanks to construct a potable water storage tank. The final color and any design elements to be decided at the next meeting.
- Received a SAW grant update from Jennifer Hodges of Gourdie-Fraser authorized a flow monitoring study of a 15-inch sanitary sewer near US 31.
- Garth Green from the County Road Commission spoke about intersection improvements on South Airport and Logan’s Landing.
- Garrett Dawe of MDOT presented information on Traffic Signal Upgrades that will be performed on US 31/S. Airport Rd. along Division and all the way to M-72/US 31 in Acme in 2019.
- Authorized $12,150 to Prein & Newhof to provide Construction Observation Services to oversee the construction of the Boardman Valley Nature Preserve Site Improvements.
- Public Comment: Scott Mills spoke regarding his business of making kombucha in Garfield Township.
The Meeting was adjourned at 8:09 p.m.
