Synopsis of Minutes of May 24, 2016
Township Board Meeting
A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and the Board transacted the following business:
- Public Comment – Christine Maxbauer spoke as a private citizen regarding Alisa Kroupa.
- Approved Minutes from May 10, 2016, Township Board meeting.
- Approved the Agenda as presented.
- Approved the Consent Calendar as written.
- Received County Commissioner’s report from Christine Maxbauer regarding options for the County’s pension problems.
Received County Commissioner’s report from Alisa Kroupa regarding the revenues the County Park’s department is generating.
- Received the Clerk’s report from Lanie McManus regarding absentee voter applications and an approximate 4% reduction in insurance rates.
- Received the Supervisor’s report from Chuck Korn regarding the trail on the West side of Boardman Lake and the water trail that the governor is promoting. He reported on a Traffic Safety Network meeting in Kalkaska and a water study he is reading.
- Held a public hearing on Amendment #2 to Ord. #68 and passed Resolution 2016-13-T.
- Approved Resolution 2016-17-T, a resolution Repealing Temporary Moratorium on C-P Planned Shopping Center Sign Permits.
- Approved the City of Traverse City and Charter Township of Garfield Recreational Authority Proposed Comprehensive Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 2016/17.
- Approved a budget amendment to the DPW Budget to purchase a truck with crane.
- Approved Resolution 2016-18-T, a resolution refusing to accept ownership of the operation, maintenance, and administrative responsibilities for Meadowlane Mobile Home Park drinking water supply.
- Public Comment – Alisa Kroupa reminded everyone that there will be a Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Park at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 31st.
- Lanie McManus was appointed as the second alternate to the GT Metro Emergency Services Board.
The Meeting was adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
