Synopsis of Minutes of April 26, 2016
Township Board Meeting
A Township Board Meeting of the Charter Township of Garfield was held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, beginning at 6:00 p.m., at the Garfield Township Hall, 3848 Veterans Drive, Traverse City, Michigan.
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. and the Board transacted the following business:
- Public Comment – Wayne Fisher asked if the hill on Oak Terrace would be lowered.
- Approved Minutes from April 12, 2016, Township Board meeting.
- Approved the agenda as written.
- Removed item e. from the consent calendar. Approved the Consent Calendar as modified.
- Deferred item e. until the next meeting to allow revisions to the Zoning Administrator’s job description.
- Received the Personnel Committee’s report from Denise Schmuckal. Authorized the hiring of Michael Green as a full time Zoning Administrator at an annual salary of $42,500 plus benefits.
- Received the Treasurer’s report from Jeane Blood Law
- Received Supervisor’s report from Chuck Korn regarding the water contract with the City, GT Metro changes, the West Boardman Lake Trail and Traverse Transportation Coordinating Initiative.
- Received the County Commissioner’s report regarding the Veterans Affairs study session on their millage proposal and a special meeting scheduled for Wednesday night.
- Conducted a public hearing and approved Resolution 2016-09-T(c), a resolution confirming the
Tentative Special Assessment Roll for Oak Terrace Road Special Assessment District.
- Approved Resolution 2016-14-T, a resolution accepting and agreeing to the terms of Grant #TF15-141 for the Boardman Valley Nature Preserve Development project.
- Approved Resolution 2016-15-T, a resolution accepting and agreeing to the terms of Rotary Charities Grant for the Boardman Valley Preserve Development project.
- Awarded Team Elmers the bid for the Crown Booster Station.
- Approved the utilization of the water and sewer fund to extend water and sewer along Oak Terrace at the same time they are working on the road project.
- Went into closed session to discuss the purchase of real estate. Reconvened and accepted the purchase agreement on the Fraser property.
The Meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
